Its grimy low-poly presentation recalls the maze-heavy shooters of the 1990s, but the pace is less about simply clearing rooms and more about surviving long, hand-built combat gauntlets. Every level pushes players through hostile labyrinths where the next key, switch, or hidden passage can matter as much as the next gunfight. The mood is relentlessly hostile, amplified by a pounding metal soundtrack and a world packed with strange jokes, references, and ugly surprises.

Combat revolves around collecting an enormous arsenal, managing a light RPG-style inventory, and deciding how absurdly armed you want to be. Weapons and gear can be arranged and rotated in the inventory, while flexible equipment rules allow ridiculous loadouts such as carrying multiple launchers at once. Dashes, slow-motion abilities, dual wielding, healing items, and dozens of unlockable tools give the shooting more tactical range than the old-school visuals initially suggest. Thirty linear-but-complex stages contain key hunts, secrets, checkpoints, and a different bizarre boss encounter, while a controller is fully viable for players who prefer sticks over mouse aiming.

Devilated stands apart through its commitment to excess: over a hundred weapons, roughly seventy items, and a New Game Plus mode that dramatically increases enemy pressure while letting your build keep growing. Slaughter rank turns familiar encounters into far more punishing tests, making it a strong fit for players who enjoy replaying campaign shooters with escalating power and difficulty. Unity-based map creation and Workshop sharing also add a community-driven angle beyond the main adventure. Fans of DUSK, DOOM, Quake, and labyrinthine keycard shooters should appreciate its rough-edged ambition, although newcomers should expect confusing layouts and a deliberately unforgiving tone rather than a smooth, cinematic FPS ride.
