ULTRAKILL (v2026.04.25)

Blood is both ammunition and survival in a savage retro-inspired shooter where humanity is already gone and machines descend through Hell to keep themselves running. ULTRAKILL combines the speed and arena combat of 1990s FPS games with the expressive weapon tech and score-chasing attitude of character-action games. Its campaign sends the blood-powered V1 unit through bleak industrial ruins, divine architecture, and grotesque infernal layers packed with demons, husks, angels, and rival machines. The mood is relentlessly violent but knowingly stylish, backed by pounding music and a visual presentation that makes every encounter feel like an arcade nightmare.

Movement drives every fight: V1 dashes, slides, wall-jumps, ground-slams, and launches itself through arenas while enemies fill the screen with projectiles and melee pressure. Health returns when opponents burst at close range, so survival rewards aggression instead of cautious cover shooting. Weapons range from shotguns and nailguns to railcannons and explosive launchers, each with alternate functions that interact in clever ways; tossing a coin and shooting it in mid-air to redirect a bullet is only one of many advanced tricks. Levels also hide secret encounters, collectible lore, challenge stages, and ranking goals, while a demanding style meter grades how creatively and efficiently each room is cleared.

What separates ULTRAKILL from ordinary throwback shooters is its enormous skill ceiling without losing its immediate, readable controls. Combat encourages experimentation, from parrying attacks with a punch to juggling enemies with explosives, and repeated runs become faster and flashier as weapon combinations click into place. Its low-poly aesthetic recalls Quake, but the momentum, brutal bosses, and combo-driven scoring make it feel closer to Doom Eternal crossed with Devil May Cry. Anyone who enjoys high-speed single-player FPS campaigns can finish it on accessible settings, while score chasers and veterans find plenty of reason to master every mission.
