Teslagrad trades dialogue-heavy exposition for visual storytelling, letting ruined streets, strange machines, murals, and imposing architecture explain a kingdom’s troubled history. Its steampunk-infused fantasy version of Europe feels melancholy rather than grim, with a hand-painted look that makes every chamber of the vast Tesla Tower memorable. The result is a focused puzzle-platformer whose plot rewards players willing to notice environmental details.

Movement and problem-solving revolve around electromagnetism. The boy gradually acquires devices that let him assign magnetic charges, propel himself between surfaces, pass through barriers, and manipulate machinery, turning each new power into both a traversal tool and a puzzle-solving language. Rooms demand careful timing, observation, and platforming precision as players search a loosely connected map for routes, upgrades, collectibles, and hidden areas.
