Game Overview

A nuclear-blasted wasteland turns survival into a brutally efficient shooting problem, and Slade is built to solve it with overwhelming force. As a former Special Ops commando searching for the sealed Dome and its rumored salvation, he crosses territories ruled by rival Zoner factions, mutants, machines, and armed scavengers. The mood is aggressively late-’90s: grimy industrial ruins, gallows humor, absurdly violent weapons, and a protagonist who treats diplomacy as a last resort. Take No Prisoners delivers a fast, hostile action experience where nearly every room invites collateral damage.

Viewed from an elevated top-down perspective, combat revolves around reading sightlines, strafing through enemy fire, using cover where possible, and exploiting the vertical layout of multi-level arenas. Slade carries a large arsenal that ranges from conventional guns to laser rifles, Molotovs, and the devastating Tachyon Cannon, while mines, explosives, healing supplies, and other tactical items add options beyond simply holding the trigger. Progress involves fighting through roughly twenty connected indoor and outdoor zones, gathering the clues and technology needed to open the Dome rather than following a rigid mission order. Several routes are available, so players can scout ahead, tackle areas in a preferred sequence, and return better equipped for difficult encounters; vehicles also occasionally change the pace.

Its strongest feature is the sheer density of its combat sandbox. Enemies do more than stand in firing lines: different human, mutant, and mechanical opponents create chaotic crossfire, ambush from elevation, and make cramped facilities especially dangerous. The world’s non-linear structure gives the campaign more freedom than many action games of its era, even if its old-school interface and unforgiving damage model demand patience. Fans of Crusader: No Remorse, Loaded, or early PC shooters with a mean streak find plenty to enjoy here, particularly if they appreciate experimentation and weapon-heavy carnage. Newcomers should expect dated presentation and tough fights, but veterans looking for a distinctive post-apocalyptic blast from the past get a satisfying, relentlessly destructive challenge.

Setup Guide & Troubleshooting

How do I fix missing DLL errors for Take No Prisoners (v1.0)?

After extracting Take No Prisoners (v1.0), navigate to the _Redist or _CommonRedist folder inside the game directory and install DirectX, Vcredist, and any other dependencies included.

What should I do if the downloaded file is corrupted?

The full archive is 153.26 MB — make sure your download completed fully before extracting. Use 7-Zip to extract the files. If you still see a "file corrupted" error, re-download and try again.

Do I need to run the game as administrator?

Usually, no. Start the game normally from the extracted folder. If you see a permissions or save error, check that the folder is writable and follow the game's documented fix. Only grant administrator access when a trusted game's specific setup requires it.

How do I update my GPU drivers for this game?

Take No Prisoners (v1.0) requires a 3D graphics card compatible with DirectX 9.0 or equivalent. Update your NVIDIA or AMD drivers to the latest version for the best performance.

The game won't launch — what should I try?

Check that extraction completed and your PC meets the system requirements, including Version 9.0. Note any error message before choosing a fix. If it identifies a missing runtime, install the required DirectX components or Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable from Microsoft.

My antivirus is blocking the game — is it safe?

A warning needs to be investigated; the download source alone cannot confirm that a file is safe. Keep your security software enabled and review the detection details. Do not run or restore a flagged file unless you have verified that it is a false positive. If you are unsure, leave it quarantined.
