Lo Wang returns to a world that is already halfway to disaster, where an ancient dragon’s escape threatens to turn a demon-infested apocalypse into something even worse. Shadow Warrior 3: Deluxe Definitive Edition is a fast, loud first-person shooter built around wisecracking dialogue, absurd weapons, and supernatural martial-arts violence. Wang and former enemy Orochi Zilla make an uneasy double act as they hunt for the tools needed to stop the beast, travelling through fantastical Japanese-inspired landscapes full of temples, mountains, ruins, and monsters. The mood is knowingly ridiculous, but the combat lands with real speed and brutality.

Every arena asks players to stay mobile while cutting through waves of demons with guns, explosive tools, and Wang’s katana. Wall-running, double jumps, air dashes, and a grappling hook keep fights vertical and aggressive, while the blade is more than a backup weapon: precise strikes, parries, and finishers are central to survival. Defeated enemies can yield temporary Gore Weapons, letting Wang tear off a monster’s weapon or body part and turn it against the rest of the horde. Environmental traps add another tactical option, and upgrades steadily improve weapons, katana abilities, and movement tools as the campaign ramps up its enemy combinations.

Its greatest strength is momentum; the game plays like a compact fusion of Doom Eternal’s arena pressure, Bulletstorm’s gleeful excess, and Shadow Warrior’s own irreverent ninja flavor. Levels are more linear than open-world shooters, but their traversal challenges, secrets, and colourful combat spaces prevent the journey from feeling like a simple corridor crawl. The Definitive Edition also includes extra ways to replay the campaign, including New Game Plus and Survival Mode, alongside a tougher difficulty option for players who want less forgiveness. Anyone after a sprawling RPG may find it slight, but shooter fans who value movement, inventive kills, and a focused action campaign will find plenty to enjoy.
