Novus Orbis is an indie roguelike deckbuilder with a tense, tactical rhythm: enemies do not politely wait for your turn to end, while an unreachable force looms over the world’s collapse. Its fantasy setting feels mysterious rather than sprawling, with hidden interactions and secret encounters rewarding players who test the edges of each run. The mood is thoughtful and dangerous, built around planning several moves ahead instead of simply chasing the biggest damage number.

Combat revolves around a card system where every play carries both a resource cost and a combo value. Linking cards in the proper sequence unlocks their strongest effects, but deliberately interrupting a chain can also create safer or more useful results when a fight turns ugly. The countdown system is Novus Orbis’ strongest twist, making card order matter for defense, tempo, and survival as much as damage output. Pets add another layer of run-to-run variety, providing automatic attacks, healing, support effects, and other useful turn-based assistance. Players who enjoy Slay the Spire-style deck construction but want denser combo puzzles and more immediate enemy pressure should find a lot to chew on here.
