Mother Hub

Centuries after civilization seals itself inside a colossal shelter, humanity clings to life while a spreading sickness turns survival into a desperate race for answers. Mother Hub is a compact first-person horror shooter that sends protagonist Thea down through the vault’s abandoned sectors, where rusted technology, invasive plant life, and predatory mutants have replaced the promised safety of the upper levels. Its mood is grim and claustrophobic, built around the unnerving sense that every descent carries you farther from the people you are trying to save. The central mystery gradually shifts from finding a cure to understanding why Thea has such a personal connection to the facility’s buried history.

Combat revolves around locating and using advanced weapons left behind by the Hub’s long-lost technological peak, then spending ammunition carefully against creatures designed to ambush players in dark corridors. Progress comes from pushing deeper through decayed interiors and overgrown chambers, piecing together routes while enduring hostile encounters rather than settling into a long-form RPG upgrade grind. Environmental storytelling does much of the heavy lifting: audio recordings, messages, documents, old inscriptions, and unsettling flashbacks reveal the collapse from several angles. The campaign is deliberately short, generally lasting around two hours, though methodical players who search for lore can stretch it closer to three; prospective players should also note that key rebinding is not supported.

What stands out is the contrast between sterile vault architecture and an ecosystem that has violently reclaimed it, giving the setting more personality than a standard ruined space station. Mother Hub favors focused atmosphere and narrative momentum over huge maps, complex crafting, or endless enemy variety, making it well suited to an evening of straightforward survival-horror action. Its combination of enclosed sci-fi dread, found-record storytelling, and gunplay recalls smaller-scale horror FPS experiences in the orbit of DOOM 3 or System Shock, though it is far briefer and more linear than either. Players who enjoy uncovering a contained sci-fi mystery while blasting through grotesque threats should find it worthwhile, while anyone needing customizable controls or a lengthy campaign should temper expectations.
