Monomyth is a first-person fantasy RPG set after the surface world falls apart beneath supernatural storms, leaving humanity to survive underground. You travel there against your father’s orders to locate your missing brother and recover an ancient relic that may stop the disaster above. The mood is lonely, oppressive, and curious rather than relentlessly action-driven, with ruined halls, strange technology, and hostile creatures making every new corridor feel uncertain.

Progress comes from mapping an interconnected dungeon, opening shortcuts, uncovering concealed rooms, and deciding how to handle whatever blocks the way. Combat supports swords, shields, parries, dodges, ranged options, and magic, while character growth spreads across six attributes and thirteen skills, allowing for stealthy thieves, armored fighters, spellcasters, and hybrid builds. Problems rarely have only one answer: locked doors can be picked, forced, bypassed through alternate routes, or sometimes dealt with through objects and environmental interaction. Conversations use a keyword-based dialogue approach, and the world encourages old-school experimentation through trading, item combinations, physics-based throwing, and even small practical touches such as cooking.

What stands out is how committed Monomyth is to the immersive-sim spirit of classic first-person dungeon RPGs. Its dense vertical layout rewards attention, while peaceful NPCs and themed regions keep the underworld from becoming a simple chain of combat arenas.
