Metal Slug Collection centers on Marco and Tarma, elite fighters sent across six war-torn operations to stop General Morden’s uprising. The mood is loud, cartoonish, and chaotic rather than grim, with every jeep, helicopter, and enemy tank collapsing in spectacular fashion. Beneath the humor sits a demanding old-school shooter built around sharp reactions and learning danger patterns the hard way.

Players sprint, jump, crouch, throw grenades, and fire through dense enemy formations while rescuing prisoners who often reward them with weapons, points, or temporary support. Ammunition upgrades turn the standard pistol into shotguns, heavy machine guns, rockets, flame weapons, and other screen-clearing tools, but death sends you back to basics and makes every pickup valuable. The signature Metal Slug tank supplies armor, a powerful cannon, and a different way to approach hostile vehicles, although it can be destroyed quickly when the action intensifies. Arcade Mode preserves the straightforward full campaign structure, while Mission Mode lets you revisit cleared stages for practice, score hunting, or a quick session with a second player.
