Homgard treats the apocalypse less like a battle for survival and more like an absurd administrative mess nobody bothered to finish. Progress comes through nonogram puzzles, also known as picross: players use number clues to determine which cells belong in each row and column, gradually revealing an image. Every puzzle is intended to be solved through deduction rather than luck, while optional assists make difficult boards less punishing for players who mainly want to follow the story.
