Goo Keeper casts you as Rolly, a peaceful resident of Shroomast, where mushroom-born creatures live among overgrown ruins, underground growths, and decaying structures. Toxic tar from the outside world has twisted many of these creatures into aggressive monsters, giving the adventure a slightly gloomy edge beneath its cute, expressive art. The result is a traditional 2D action-platformer built around curiosity, mobility, and hard-won victories over bizarre foes.

Rolly moves through a connected maze of nine major regions, uncovering routes, shortcuts, secrets, traps, and boss arenas as new powers open previously unreachable spaces. Combat combines jumping, rolling, blocking, ranged attacks, and energy-powered transformations, including a hulking hammer arm that turns close encounters into satisfying knockback-heavy brawls. Abilities draw from a regenerating energy meter, so powerful moves require more patience while lighter options support quicker, safer pressure. Mandatory upgrades such as climbing and movement tools drive progression, while optional active and passive skills let players tune Rolly toward defense, offense, traversal, or utility; certain combinations even reveal alternate hidden powers.
