GIGABUSTER

A turbocharged 2D action-platformer, GIGABUSTER pits the agile Liz against the GEC, a corporate monopoly bankrolling a suspiciously cheerful vision of “Happiness.” Its world turns hostile boardrooms, industrial facilities, and company properties into colorful combat playgrounds, while a sarcastic cast of CEOs gives the campaign its irreverent edge. The tone is fast, loud, and knowingly ridiculous, but the controls demand the kind of sharp timing associated with classic arcade action games. Cinematics and dialogue remain entirely optional, so repeat runs can focus almost immediately on the platforming and boss fights.

Liz begins with an unusually generous movement kit: double jumps, air dashes, wall jumps, charged attacks, and more are available from the outset rather than locked behind hours of upgrades. Levels reward players who chain dash jumps, ceiling grabs, rail grinds, fence climbs, dive kicks, and grappling-hook swings to find shortcuts, secrets, and power-ups. Combat mixes ranged attacks with close-range weapons such as bats, spears, and halberds, while a combo gauge fuels dramatic lasers and enemy-clearing dash attacks. Nine target companies arrive in groups of three, letting players choose their next mission from a connecting hub, buy upgrades, and collect visible armor pieces that alter Liz’s look.

Freedom of movement is the real star: instead of merely surviving obstacle courses, skilled players can tear through them with improvised routes and momentum-heavy tech. The structure recalls Mega Man Zero and other mission-based 2D action platformers, but its emphasis on built-in mobility, optional story scenes, and rapid replaying gives it a distinctly speedrunner-friendly personality. Exploration has value beyond completion, since equipment, upgrades, and hidden power-ups expand an already flexible toolkit. GIGABUSTER suits veterans who enjoy demanding platform combat and sequence-breaking, while newcomers with patience can appreciate its direct missions, adjustable route choices, and playful corporate satire.
