Cannibal Abduction

A dead engine on a deserted road turns a simple weekend escape into a grim fight for survival. Cannibal Abduction is a compact, PS1-inspired survival-horror nightmare where Henry accepts help from a seemingly harmless local mechanic, only to wake up trapped in the home of a murderous cannibal family. Its low-poly visuals, VHS distortion, fixed cinematic camera angles, and harsh sound design capture the unpleasant charm of late-’90s console horror while drawing heavily from dirty 1980s slasher films. The mood stays claustrophobic and mean, alternating quiet exploration with sudden, panicked pursuits through a house that never feels safe.

Henry spends most of the game searching rooms for useful objects, solving straightforward environmental puzzles, and working out how to reach the next locked-off area without alerting the family’s killer. Stealth matters more than combat: staying out of sight, breaking line of sight during a chase, and hiding in wardrobes are often the difference between escape and a gruesome failure. Inventory space is deliberately tight, so players must decide which keys, tools, and puzzle items deserve a slot rather than hauling everything around at once. Progress is saved by collecting and using scarce tapes, giving exploration real tension and making careless decisions costly without turning the experience into an overly punishing marathon.

What makes the game effective is its focus on vulnerability rather than elaborate systems. The house functions as a nasty little puzzle box, with each return trip becoming more stressful once the stalker’s presence starts to shape your routes and priorities. Retro presentation is not merely cosmetic here; the coarse visuals and awkwardly framed cameras conceal threats, build uncertainty, and make every hallway feel suspect. Two endings add a reason to revisit the story and uncover more of the family’s motives. Fans of Puppet Combo-style horror, Resident Evil’s older fixed-camera tension, and short but intense slasher games will find plenty to like, while newcomers should be ready for limited saves and deliberately oppressive stealth.
