Its strongest feature is atmosphere: detailed 2D art, expressive animation, voice work, and a memorable soundtrack give each biome its own identity without losing the feeling of a connected sea. The large bestiary of marine life also makes the world feel inhabited rather than simply populated with targets, since many creatures can be observed, avoided, or approached differently. Although its controls and pacing reflect its classic indie-era design, the careful world layout and gradual growth remain rewarding.
